Topography
Spanning over an area of over 1300sqkm, the lay of the land comprises of hills ranging from 1,300 to 4,000ft, grasslands, river belts, marshy depressions and a large lake. Numerous ravines, ridges, minor streams and small plateaus dot the landscape. River Ramganga flows through the park; forming its major water source.

Vegetation
With a forest cover of almost 73 %, the park is sheathed mainly in sal, haldu, peepal, rohini and mango trees. Around 110 species of trees are found in the park.

Mammals & Other species

Royal Bengal Tiger is the uncontested King of Jim Corbett National Park! Thick forests, the Ramganga River and abundant prey make this reserve an ideal habitat for tigers. Other inhabitants of this sanctuary are leopards, elephants, jungle cat, fishing cat, barking deer, sambar deer, hog deer, chital, sloth and Himalayan black bears. Indian grey mongoose, otters, yellow-throated martens, Himalayan goral, Indian pangolins, langur and rhesus macaques have also been spotted here. Its captive breeding programs for crocodiles and gharials saved them from extinction.

Birds of Jim Corbett
The park is a birdwatcher’s delight too with around 600 species of birds, both resident & migrant flocking the park. Jungle fowl, peacock, partridge, kaleej pheasant, dove, woodpecker, drongo, duck, teal, cormorant and stork are some of the birds found here.
