The stunning temples, renowned for their Nagara styled architectural symbolism and elegantly erotic carvings, were built between 950 AD and 1050 AD by the Chandela Dynasty. ?These temples portray various subjects including meditation, spiritual teachings, kinship, wrestling, royalty and most significantly, erotic art. The temples are designed on the basic Mandala theme comprising a square and circles. The entire precinct is divided into three zones; Western, Eastern & Southern; combining to form a pentagon.
