One of the early Indian dreams brought alive by the great Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier- Chandigarh is the first planned city of independent India. A blend of both worlds, Chandigarh’s concrete glamour compliments its many gardens and lush environs. The city gets its name from the temple of Goddess Chandi, located around 15kms from Chandigarh. The joint capital of Punjab & Haryana, this young city exudes liveliness, vibrancy and warmth.

Nek Chand?s Rock Garden
One of its kinds in the world, this rock garden is the legacy of Nek Chand, a road inspector with the local government who, over a period of 20 years, created astonishing sculptures from the rocks, debris and redundant junk left over from the 50-odd villages relocated to build the city of Chandigarh. Remnants of tea sets, fluorescent tubes, broken bathroom sinks, terracotta scrap, bicycle frames and cast away switches; all joined in to give shape to his unique vision. Ornamental landscapes, astounding sculptures, graceful archways, elegant bridges, concealed getaways and artistic courtyards & chambers; all give the surreal feel of a lost city.
