Sabarmati Ashram
Located on the banks of Sabarmati River, this ashram stands as a testimony to the Indian freedom movement. Mahatma Gandhi lived here for around 12 years and led the famous Dandi Salt March from this ashram. This early 15th century fort was built by Ahmad Shah, the founder of Ahmedabad. Its main attraction is the Maidan Shahi or the Royal Square where royal processions and polo games took place in the days of the yore. Now the area has been turned into a marketplace.
