Kollam Beach
The main beach, around 2kms from the city, is a delight to watch at sunrise and sunset when the waters and the horizon are awash in shades of vermillion. Once an active harbor for Chinese trade ships, you may still see remnants of Chinese fishing nets, Chinese water pots and sampan-like boats on this beach. A chaotic fish market at its north end adds local color to the beach.

Backwaters of Ashtamudi Lake
The lake derives its name from its 8 arm-like channels. Considered a major gateway to the backwaters, Ashtamudi Lake is famous for its houseboat rides on the scenic route from Kollam to Alleppey. Its lush surroundings, clear waters and exotic biodiversity are simply enchanting.

Sasathamkotta Lake
This beautiful lake, flanked by lush hills, paints a clean, green and serene picture on the canvass of Kollam. Named after the ancient Sastha Temple located on its bank, this beautiful lake is a Ramsar Convention designated wetland for its unique biodiversity.

Thangassery Lighthouse
This 144ft lighthouse was built in 1902 and its beacon still shows way to the ships up to 13 miles at sea. Climb up for a bird?s eye view of its pretty surroundings.

Thevally Palace
Built around 1819, on the banks of Ashtamudi Lake, this palace is a striking blend of Portuguese, Dutch and British architecture. An epicenter of activities in the Travancore Kingdom, Thevally Palace now houses government offices.
